Where Is Amazonite From?
The refreshing color and sheen of gorgeous amazonite may be a little bit reminiscent of the Amazon jungle, but don't be fooled by the vibrant and verdant blue-greens of these stones. Interestingly enough, the amazonite gemstone earned its name when gemologists found it and confused it with another gem that had been discovered in the Amazon rainforest. Amazonite is really found in Brazil, Norway, Madagascar, Russia, and even in Colorado and Virginia.

Amazonite, a variety of microcline, is a potassium-rich alkali feldspar. Due to its rarity and beautiful coloration, some call this gemstone Amazon Jade.
