Aventurine

Aventurine is a green stone with gold flecks or bands. It is considered lucky and some people use it to attract wealth and prosperity. This stone is lovely in jewelry and is also used in building, landscaping and aquariums.

Aventurine is a variety of quartz with inclusions that make it sparkle. The mineral inclusions in Aventurine Beads are usually mica, but can also be hematite or geothite. The sparkling effect is referred to as aventuresence, and the more aventuresence that is present, the more valuable the aventurine beads. Aventurine is often cut and polished into cabochons to display the aventuresence most effectively.

At the Bead Traders, buying beads in volume allows us to always offer affordable beads and beading supplies for your next project.

Green Stones

Aventurine is most often green in color, which is caused by the presence of a chromium-rich mineral called fuschite. The color can range from light leek green to dark moss. Green aventurine beads can be almost transparent or opaque, depending upon the amount of inclusions in the stones. Aventurine beads also come in other colors, such as blue, yellow, orange, brown and gray.

The different colors of green aventurine beads combine well with other beads in jewelry projects, for example, dark moss green beads paired with rusty red beads like carnelian or jasper. Emerald-hued aventurine beads are beautiful with dark red garnets, while lighter aventurine looks lovely when strung with multicolored tourmaline or citrine.

Legendary

Green aventurine beads are believed to be lucky and are known as “Stones of Opportunity.” Green is a color connected to prosperity, and the addition of sparkling, golden inclusions go even further to make people think of wealth. It is also thought to bring luck in sports competitions, gambling, first dates and tax audits. Some people believe that wearing aventurine beads increase a connection to nature and bring calm and balance in times of stress. It is said to be connected to the heart chakra and useful for emotional healing after a relationship break up.

Other Uses

In addition to jewelry, aventurine is also popular for stone faces of buildings because of its beautiful green color and gold banding. It is also used as a stone mulch in landscaping, and small aventurine rocks are popular in home aquarium set-ups. Aventurine is also used to carve statues. The ancient Tibetans referred to aventurine as the “Stone of Heaven” and used it for the eyes of carved figures. They believed that aventurine had special properties of divination and could be used to see the future.
